Episode 069, Part 1 - Food Is Great, People Are Better.

Welcome to Part 1 of Episode 069, the two-part, season-ending episode of Cheftimony. Today I am delighted to be joined by my friend and (repeat!) Cheftimony co-host, Keren from the outstanding 360 Vegas Podcast. Together and with the help of more friends, Keren and I dive into restaurants that we really wish we’d visited and into some that are there to be enjoyed right now.

We also talk about changes to the food scene in general in Las Vegas and just why it’s so important to visit places while we can. More than that, Keren and I agree that as marvellous as food is, its real power is in its ability to bring us together as people. Keren’s quote became the title of the episode: “Food is great, people are better.”

You’ll hear from two other Las Vegas enthusiasts today. Up first is Dayvid Figler, Vegas-based lawyer, food lover and co-host of the excellent City Cast Las Vegas podcast. Dayvid and I met up at Bungalow Coffee in the Arts District, and Dayvid will describe for you some restaurants of the past, including Andre’s and Pamplemousse. These days, Dayvid’s recommendation is Main Street Provisions.

Next up is Michael Trager of TravelZork who is very enthusiastic about the Las Vegas Strip. Michael and I talk about the sadly-shuttered Alex at Wynn Las Vegas as well as Michael’s current recommendation (also at the Wynn), the breakfast and brunch star, Tableau. A fan of Vegas history, Michael also shares memories of tiki and 24-hour standouts from the Las Vegas of yesteryear.

And my co-host? As you’ll hear, Keren works in the Arts District and has easy access to many standout Las Vegas restaurants. She will tell you about one of them in Part 2 of Episode 069. Today, though, you’ll hear about the departed restaurant that Keren is missing most, Hecho en Vegas, formerly of the MGM Grand. Oh and those books we talk about are the Monsieur Pamplemousse series by Michael Bond.

So don’t delay! The only thing constant about Las Vegas is change. Let’s enjoy these food discussions while we can. They’re all ahead on Part 1 of Episode 069.
